We Were still far from thinking of the concept minivan when the Fiat 600 Multipla was released. Based on the Fiat 600 which had the engine in the  back and the trunk in the front . With the previous suspension of the model 1100 (much wider), Fiat had transferred the passenger compartment into the frontal position thus creating ample space for luggage between seats and the engine compartment. The Multipla could carry six passengers, in three rows of seats. The folding row was set at the middle for easy access.
This rather off the wall vehicle is for sure the real precursor of all modern SUV s
